How do I clean & maintain Film Processors

Film Processor Maintenance Checklist - Roller type

Daily:

  • Turn on the water supply and the power switch

  • At the start of the day, check the chemistry levels in the solution trays

  • Add six (6) ounces of fresh developer and fixer to the working solution tanks

  • Check the replenisher tanks as well - if equipped

  • Run a clean up sheet to remove any dried chemistry from the rollers.

  • After processing 6 pans or 6 cephs or 6 FMX's add six (6) ounces of developer and fixer to the working solution tanks.

  • At the end of each day be sure to turn power switch OFF, remove the front access cover to allow for cooling and to prevent condensation. Turn off the water supply.

  • If the optional water re-circulator is used, replace the water daily.

Weekly:

  • Turn power switch OFF, remove the transport racks from the developer and fixer trays. Wash the racks thoroughly with warm water, scrubbing with a soft bristle brush to remove any chemical residue. After rinsing thoroughly, drain and stand the transport racks on end and allow to dry overnight.

  • Inspect the washer/dryer rollers and clean as necessary, but clean at least every three (3) weeks

  • To resume normal operation, rinse dried racks, check for proper operation and place in solution trays. Replenish solutions, turn power switch ON.

Note:

Prolonged use of processor without air-drying the racks can cause excessive swelling of the rubber rollers, which may lead to film slippage or loss and excessive transport wear. Air-drying the racks is very important.

Monthly:

  • Turn power switch OFF, thoroughly clean the processor racks with processor cleaner

  • Drain solutions from the trays. Remove, rinse and scrub trays. Rinse replenisher tanks and fill halfway with warm water by turning the control box off, waiting ten seconds and turning back on. Repeat several times and le the pumps draw air by removing the hose from the tanks. Leave on until the water is purged from the pump. Discard excess water from the replenisher tanks and then re-install the tanks.

  • Refill the tanks with fresh chemistry.

  • Remove the dryer rack assembly and clean in the same manner as the other racks.

  • Lubricate the main drive assembly as indicated in the manual

  • To resume operations, turn power switch ON.
